Product Description MBT is the first physiological footwear that has a positive effect on the whole body.
Amazon.com Review
 | MBT believes in footwear that makes you better from the ground up. MBT: The idea of Physiological Footwear MBT, Masai Barefoot Technology, was invented by Swiss engineer Karl Müller. During a visit to Korea he made the startling discovery that walking barefoot over paddy fields alleviated his back pain. Back in Switzerland, Müller began to develop a footwear technology that would make the natural instability of soft ground such as Korean paddy fields or the East African savannah accessible also to those, who have to walk on hard surfaces. In 1996, after years spent on research and development, Masai Barefoot Technology was mature enough to be launched on the market. MBTs are now available in over twenty countries, and approximately one million pairs of this revolutionary footwear technology are sold every year. How the anti-shoe is pro-body: Because of the specially designed sole, wearing MBTs significantly improves your gait and posture and relieves pressure on your joints and back. It also exercises a large number of muscles, whether you’re walking or standing. This, in turn, stimulates your metabolism, burns extra calories and speeds up muscle regeneration. In addition, MBTs can have a firming effect on abdominal, leg and buttock muscles. The key to MBT is its patented sole structure. The Shank, PU Midsole with Pivot and the Masai Sensor create a soft surface that is akin to walking barefoot on springy moss or on a sandy beach. This creates a natural instability underfoot, which activates the supporting muscle system and has positive effects on the entire body. | MBT technology mimicks walking in barefeet. | Wearing MBT mimicks walking on soft, natural ground. When the heel strikes, the heel sinks into the ground and the body has to stabilize. When the foot rolls forward, there is a controlled rolling over the balancing area towards the ball of the foot. The toe rolls off (without pressure). | MBT's ensure the foot’s natural rolling movement and optimizes pressure distribution over the whole sole. | The Anti-Shoe MBT would like to help people all over the world lead a healthier, more active and happier life. MBT is convinced that human fitness and health are significantly influenced by the way we walk – this conviction has already been substantiated objectively by many scientific studies. MBT therefore attempts to awaken and strengthen the awareness of physiologically correct walking among people world-wide by disseminating the idea and concept of MBT physiological footwear. The benefits of physiologically correct walking can thus be made available to as many people as possible all over the world, in a straightforward and uncomplicated way. | MBT's Masai Sensor creates natural instability, to which the body responds with increased muscle activity. | MBT's Patented Sole Technology The Lasting Board binds the upper and lower parts of MBTs together. The Shank provides firmness to the sole and also ensures the foot’s natural rolling movement and optimizes pressure distribution over the whole sole. The PU Midsole with Pivot triggers an active rolling movement and exercises a large number of stabilizing muscles throughout the entire body when walking or standing. The Masai Sensor creates natural instability, to which the body responds with increased muscle activity. The rubber Outsole protects the Midsole. |

| Customer Reviews: MBT Tunisha Casual Mary Jane June 4, 2009 P. Eisa Lindner (Naples, FL) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I love the dressy look of my new MBT's. I'd read here (and on the site where I ordered) that they are running 1/2 size smaller and that I should order 1/2 size larger than my norm. I printed the foot sizing chart and ordered the 1/2 size larger but when they arrived (and they arrived quickly) they were just a tad large. I ruminated about what to do but decided to return them for the 8's and I'm so glad I did. They fit great and function the same as my MBT sandals in terms of 'the walk'. It's GREAT to be able to wear dressier clothes with them! Hope the company continues to upgrade and update their styles so the whole line becomes more contemporary and attractive. MBT's have resolved my foot issues (I'm a therapist on my feet all workday) and I'm very grateful.
These are the greatest shoes, ever November 18, 2009 V. Ridgeway (San Antonio) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've had knee replacements and some trouble with plantar fasciitis. Good shoes have become very important to me. I'd been interested in MBT's ever since I first heard about them. I first got a pair with a tennis shoe style. As far as my feet go, the advice to get a size larger is true. The tennis shoe style was too small for me, but I could tell that the shoes were magic. I then got a pair of sandals and did order a size larger. The sandals rocked. I finally decided I needed a pair to wear to work so I ordered the Tunisha style.
Let me be sure that the readers understand completely that this shoe makes walking fun again! I just got back from a trip to NYC. Absolutely NO problems with all that walking in NYC. My feet and knees felt as great at the end of the day as they did at the beginning. Amazing, really. The shoes help your back feel better too.
I doubt I will ever buy shoes other than MBT's again. They are that good.
Doesn't have the same rocker action February 23, 2010 BE Babe (Silver City, NM) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased the MBT Tunisha as well as the MBT Kaya (both mary jane styles) and I can definitely say that the Tunisha falls short. It does not feel like it has the same rocker action as the Kaya. In addition, the sole did not feel as cushioned. When wearing the Tunishas, my heels kept slipping up and down as I walked. I can imagine that I would develop blisters with that constant friction. I also suspect that the buckle might not keep the shoes in place as well as velcro or laces. I tried two different sizes in the Tunishas and they both had the same problem with the heel slipping. I didn't experience this at all with the Kaya. The Tunisha style is cute and certainly appropriate for work situations, but I didn't feel that the physiological advantage of wearing MBTs was noticeable with the Tunisha. Try the Kaya instead.
Too narrow at toe; sticking with the sneakers. February 17, 2010 Walkabout I own the mbt sneakers and they are fantastic. I bought this for errands and casual wear. This style is uncomfortable as it was too narrow at the toes. One can only determine this only upon wearing it. Could not return it as it was purchased through a storefront that requires the package be exactly as delivered. Try it on at a store and then order online. If I had done I would have passed on this cute but uncomfortable style.
